Oh Brother

Brother is one of my favorite bands. I've been addicted to their soulful, tribal, celtic, mongrel music since 1996, when I first saw them at Pittsburgh's Irish Festival.

The following is from an email the band sent to fans tonight.

Our touring for the next few months will involve an awareness and fund raising campaign for stem cell research. We plan to cover as much of the country as possible. Most of you know the work we do with childhood diabetes. This is something that could eventually provide a cure for not only diabetes, but many other ailments. The campaign is about clearing up a lot of misinformation on the subject. If you are part of an organization involved in this area and think you can be of any help let us know (email info@BROTHERmusic.com).

I'm hoping that they don't mean embryonic stem cell research, but I'm not holding my breath. I encourage my pro-life readers, especially those who are fans of the band, to please write a polite email to the band suggesting they not support embryonic stem cell research.

Jerry Nora, if you're reading, please give me info about the bioethical background of stem cell research (all forms), so I can pass the info to my readers and the band.
