Joel has hit an important linguistic milestone. Yesterday, at lunch, he formed a two-word sentence to ask for what he wanted. “Nana, peas”, he said. It wasn’t Shakespeare, but it was a big step for him. Go, Bean, go! 🙂
Joel has started talking. He’s not the wordsmith his brother was at that age, but he’s making good progress. 10/06: “bye-bye” 10/12: “book” (“booh”) 10/17: “please” (“peas”) 10/18: “banana” (“nana”) 10/25: “thank you” (“dah-ooh”)
When my wife and I picked up the boys from daycare yesterday, one of the caretakers (teachers? wardens?) told us that Alex had been talking up a storm. We figured she meant the usual – two and three word comprehensible sentence fragments separated by gibberish that only he understands. It turns out we were wrong.
Witnessing the growth of my son’s vocabulary has been, on the whole, a blessing and a source of fascination. Today Alex attempted to say “kitty”, “daddy”, and “mommy”. “Kitty” was a spontaneous response to me signing “cat”. 🙂
